Start Your Journey with Snowberry Commons

The best way to get to know Snowberry Commons—and for us to get to know you—is by becoming an Explorer. Explorers are individuals and households who are seriously interested in cohousing and want to explore whether this community is the right fit. Through info sessions, meet-and-greets, and regular gatherings, you’ll learn more, ask questions, and begin building connections with others involved in shaping the community. As an Explorer, you’ll receive an orientation to help get you up to speed, and you’re welcome to observe community meetings to gain a deeper understanding of how the group works and makes decisions.

Becoming an Explorer is the first step toward deeper involvement. It gives you the opportunity to stay informed, participate in the process at your own pace, and determine if membership is right for you. If it feels like a fit, this is also the pathway toward becoming a member of Snowberry Commons.

There is a one-time, non-refundable Explorer fee of $250 per household to join.

As an Explorer, You’ll Have the Opportunity to:

Understanding the Pathway to Membership

Step 1

Become an Explorer

The first step on the pathway to membership at Snowberry Commons is becoming an Explorer. Explorers are those seriously interested in cohousing who want the time and space to learn, ask questions, and determine if the community is the right fit. With a one-time, non-refundable fee of $250 per household, Explorers are invited to attend meetings, events, and orientation sessions to connect with others and stay informed as the community takes shape.

A key milestone in this journey is the Kick-off Workshop, held once land is secured. Facilitated by cohousing expert Katie McCamant, this workshop provides a deeper look at the development and financial process, introduces the site, and explores early design concepts. Following the workshop, Explorers will be asked to decide if they’re ready to move forward and take the next step toward membership.

Step 2

Become a Member

Becoming a Member of Snowberry Commons is the next step for those ready to move from exploration into active participation. While Explorers are invited to observe and learn, Members are fully able to participate in all decision-making and play a meaningful role in shaping the community—engaging in design conversations, contributing to key decisions, and working alongside others to bring the vision to life. This stage offers a deeper level of engagement, connection, and influence in how the community evolves.

As a Member, you’ll also receive priority in home selection based on when you join, giving you an important advantage as plans move forward. Membership includes a series of financial commitments that support land acquisition and early development, all of which are applied toward your future home. It’s a collaborative process that allows you to take an active role in creating the community you’ll one day call home.
